Together with the fourth year architecture students in the matter space structure studio at Chalmers, a short and intense workshop was performed May 7-8, 2018.

The workshop investigated materiality, detailing, and conceptual consequences by the making of a small-scale design: a collapsible chair out of pretensioned plywood.

The material usage was limited to a 1.2×1.2 m sheet of airplane plywood of either 1, 1.5, or 2 mm thickness per chair. Additionally, strings, small pieces of wood, glue and metal fasteners were allowed – if the usage was kept to a minimum.
